Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964, is a prominent American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first woman to hold the vice president and is the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. She is a senator and former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Her first job was in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. From 2017 until 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman to serve in the Congress, and the first South Asian American American to serve in the United States Senate. She was a senator who fought for healthcare and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is well-known for her direct questioning of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
